Venus Williams is not taking a break to savor her surprise run to the Australian Open finals.

The seven-time major champion flew from Melbourne to St. Petersburg, Russia to compete at the WTA event for the first time.

"This is a place I want to be, and have always wanted to visit because of the historic value, and because it's a beautiful city," Williams told reporters. "I know this tour pretty well, and no tournament can escape my glance."

Williams, now ranked World No. 11, reached her second ever Australian Open final only to lose to her sister Serena Williams. Williams described the two weeks down under as emotional but was happy with the outcome.

“To get there to the end and be standing there with my sister was the best ending ever.”

Williams will play her opening round match against France’s Kristina Mladenovic.
