Novak Djokovic began his quest to reach a record 18th consecutive final in Dubai, and if we can judge from this 30 seconds of rollicking defensive tennis, he’s in pitch-perfect form despite not having played since the Australian Open final.

The world No. 1 remained undefeated on the season with a straight-sets win over Tommy Robredo and will bid to become the third active player to hit the 700-win mark on Wednesday when he meets Malek Jaziri in the second round.

"Obviously playing my first match in three weeks, different conditions, I didn't know how I would start, whether or not I would execute the game plan as I prepared myself to," said Djokovic. "But everything went well. Very few things went wrong.”
