Watch: Carol Zhao Sings Coldplay at Fed Cup

It began as an initiation rite of passage. It became an inspirational performance.

Canadian Carol Zhao, who is scheduled to make her Fed Cup debut in doubles this weekend against Belarus, delivered this beautiful cover version of Coldplay's "Yellow" during the team dinner in Québec City.

Traditionally, Fed Cup and Davis Cup rookies are summoned to the podium to give a short speech as part of the initiation into the international team competition.

Carol brought her guitar and let the music do the talking.

Coldplay will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday though Carol may well be to busy playing to see it live.

The 20-year-old Toronto native and Gabriela Dabrowski are the scheduled doubles starters for Team Canada, playing without Genie Bouchard this weekend. Belarus is playing without its No. 1, Victoria Azarenka.
