Williams saved six of nine break points against her versus the second seeded Doi. Doi was bidding for just her second WTA career title, her first coming last year in Luxembourg.
Williams’ experience shown through as she claimed the match and the title 6-4, 6-2. Taiwan is now the 49th career singles title for Williams. That puts her seventh on the WTA all-time list of tournament wins in singles.
The Asia/Pacific area remains a happy hunting ground for the 35-year-old Williams. Last year, she won two events in the region in Auckland and in Wuhan.
