Second Serve - A Tennis Now Blog

Second Serve

Grigor Dimitrov launched his Acapulco title defense with a major leap of faith.

Dimitrov unleashed his inner daredevil cliff diving in Acapulco. Though the height of his leap looks like it got a bit of a boost from the friendly ATP video editors.

Watch Dimitrov dramatically cross himself, pause to ponder the great height (and insanity) of his impending jump, then appear to leap from the very top of the cliff in the video above.

Watch again and you can see the ATP video is cleverly edited to show Dimitrov on the ledge at the 69-second mark, cutting to the latter flight stages before splash down.

Check out this view of a Dimitrov dive off a lower ledge that's a bit less daunting though still impressive.

It's been a "did he or didn't he?" kind of month for the Bulgarian, who was the subject of engagement rumors to girlfriend Maria Sharapova.

What do you think?

Did Dimitrov take the full leap from the top of the cliff? Or did G-Force enjoy a flight-planned short-cut and some editing enhancement? Would you make either jump? And does size really matter after all?
