Players never seem to stay truly retired these days, and the latest buzz about a comeback centers on the Czech Republic's Nicole Vaidisova, who first hung up her racquet in 2010.
Vaidisova's agency confirmed last week that she was considering a comeback following her rehab from a shoulder injury. However, other sources claim it is just a rumor, and that Vaidisova is in no shape for a comeback, and does not even own a tennis racquet any longer.
Just 24 years old, Vaidisova has six WTA titles under her belt and was a semifinalist at the French Open in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2007, reaching No. 7 in world shortly thereafter.
She finished 2007 ranked 12th, after being #10 in 2006, but fell to 41st in 2008. She went just 11-17 in 2009, and played just two WTA matches in 2010 before retiring.
She married Radek Stepanek in the summer of 2010, but the two have since split up, with Stepanek taking up with Petra Kvitova.
