King left the US Olympic team earlier this week to be with her ailing mother, who passed away at age 91 Friday in Prescott, Arizona.
Betty Moffitt married husband Bill and had two children - Billie Jean, who won 39 Grand Slam titles, and Randy, who played major league baseball.

Betty and Bill were married for 65 years. Bill passed away in 2006.
