As the greatest living player on grass in the world, Roger Federer is probably wondering what took the ATP so long to make the announcement that came Monday.
The men's tour announced its 2015 schedule in a press release with an enhanced grass court swing, three weeks of it leading up to Wimbledon.
Events on grass will be held in Halle, Nottingham, Stuttgart, 's-Hertogenbosch and at London's Queen's Club. Nottingham, which will be a 48-man draw, replaces the previous 28-man draw held at Eastbourne on the schedule.
In addition, both Halle and Queen's Club are being upgraded to 500-point events from 250-pointers previously.
"The extended grass court season, with additional Emirates ATP Rankings points at stake, is a positive step forward," ATP President Chris Kermode said in a press release on Monday.
"One of our assets as a sport is to provide for variance across playing surfaces throughout the season, so the strengthening of the grass-court season is a significant enhancement for the overall calendar."
