A pair of big name Americans are coming to Houston in March.
Ben Shelton and Chris Eubanks have signed up to play the 2024 Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship, with the World No.17 and No.34 respectively now committed to join defending champion and current World No.16 Frances Tiafoe in the main draw, which takes place from March 30 to April 7.
“Ben and Chris won over a lot of fans during their breakout seasons in 2023, and we are thrilled that both will be playing at River Oaks in 2024,” said Tournament Director Bronwyn Greer in a statement. “They are two very exciting players to watch as well as great people off the court. With them joining Frances in the field, we wish the tournament was going to be getting underway a little sooner than it will.”
21-year-old Shelton made an impressive splash during his first full season on the tour in 2023, bookending a stellar campaign with a quarterfinal run at the Australian Open and a trip to the semifinals at the US Open.
The former Florida Gator won 26 matches across the full season, and claimed his maiden ATP title in Tokyo.
Eubanks’ dream season included a surprise run to the Wimbledon quarterfinals this summer. The 27-year-old made his Top-100 and Top-50 debuts during his breakout season, and also won his maiden title on the grass at Mallorca.
21 of Eubanks 30 career ATP wins came in 2023.
