Serena Williams officially hung up her racquets in 2022, but her sister Venus is still planning on playing – even if she isn’t exactly sure when that will happen.
The seven-time major champion, who is now 42, posted an update on her YouTube channel to inform fans of her plans.
“A lot of people have been asking me… ‘are you gonna play again?’ I love tennis and I would like to play again and I will let you know exactly when,” Willaims said in the video. “I’ve been honestly hitting the court a lot – right after the doubles match that we played at the US Open. I immediately booked the court the next day and I went to every single practice in New York. I hit indoors and I’ve been hitting ever since.”
Williams says she has been working on her slice and her volleys, and has even been practicing serve-and-volley, so expect a slightly different tactical approach from the American icon when she does return to the court.
In her video Williams also talked about the gym work is doing, as well as her fun times at fashion week and crashing her sister Serena’s wedding anniversary (five years with her husband Alexis Ohanian).
“I don’t know that I was invited, but I was there,” Venus said, of her visit to the low-key part, along with her mom, Oracene. “I rolled on in.”
