Karolina Pliskova and Sascha Bajin ended their 18-month partnership in July of 2022, and the Czech went on to finish the 2022 season ranked at No. 31 – her lowest year-ending ranking since 2013, and ending a stretch of six consecutive Top-10 finishes.
The pair have elected to join forces again, and announced the news that they’ll be spending 2023 together on .
Bajin, the former hitting partner of Serena Williams and coach of Naomi Osaka, was the WTA’s Coach of the Year in 2019. He has also worked with Kristina Mladenovic and Dayana Yastremska.
Pliskova, a former World No.1 and 16-time WTA titlist, is still searching for her first major title. She has reached major finals at the 2016 US Open (loss to Kerber, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4) and at Wimbledon in 2021 (with Bajin as her coach, loss to Barty 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-3).
The 30-year-old started the 2022 season three months late due to an injured arm. She went 21-21 overall, and did not reach a single final.
