John McEnroe has always been a legend in his own mind. He proved he still has plenty left on the court as well last weekend, defeating Mats Wilander 6-2, 6-4 in the Tennis Legends division of the Statoil Masters Tennis event held at Royal Albert Hall in London.

In the Champions division, Australian Pat Rafter defeated local favorite Tim Henman of the UK, 6-3, 6-1.

In all, 12 players were grouped into either the Champions or Legends divisions in two groups. The Champions division featured Rafter, Henman, Mark Philippoussis, Fabrice Santoro, Greg Rusedski and Goran Ivanisevic.

The Legends division included McEnroe, Wilander, Sergi Bruguera, Jeremy Bates, Henri Leconte and Wayne Ferreira, who replaced Stefan Edberg.

The 54-year-old McEnroe is five years older than Wilander. They met 13 times while on the ATP tour together, with McEnroe holding a slight 7-6 lead.

In ATP play, Rafter, who will turn 41 in three weeks, held a 3-2 edge over the 39-year-old Henman.
