Venus says she's already retired...from doubles.
Responding to fans' questions on her YouTube Channel, Williams was asked if she'll play mixed doubles at the US Open with buddy Reilly Opelka.
That prompted a Venus revelation: She's already retired from doubles.
"It would be two big serves and that would be a lot of fun," Venus says of mixing it up with Opelka. "But I think Reilly should focus on the singles and I'm actually retired in doubles.
"I keep saying it and no one believes me."
The four-time Olympic gold medal champion offered a simple reason for her doubles retirement: When you've spent your career partnering the GOAT, it can't get any better.
"I've seen the mountain top, I've played with the best, I played with Serena and it doesn't get much better than that," Venus said. "And as much as I'd love to play with lots of people, including one of my friends Reilly, I think I've done it all in doubles."
