It’s the cardinal rule for any great relationship, and it’s no different in tennis romance: Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa hope to bring the best out of each other.

The Greek, speaking to reporters ahead of the National Bank Open in Toronto, revealed that he dreams of being No.1 in the world
together with the Spaniard.

“I want her to have an incredible career and reach World No. 1,” he said. “And my biggest dream of all is for us to do it together. To be World No. 1 one day together, I think I can truly say that I have fulfilled my biggest, deepest desire in tennis to not just have done it myself but to have done it with a person who will be there for me for the rest of my life.”

It's not that much of a stretch, if you consider how high each has ranked individually in the past.

25-year-old Badosa has topped out at No.2 in the world. She is currently down at No.45 after a struggle with injuries over the last year. Tsitsipas has reached No.3 and currently sits at No.4 in the ATP rankings.

Badosa pulled out of the Omnium Banque Nationale in Montreal this week due to the spinal stress fracture she suffered in Rome this spring.

Tsitsipas is banking on a bright future for the relationship, and for both players individually.

“I really hope for this to keep on growing the way it keeps on growing monthly and for us to keep building memories on and off court and aim for big – sometimes people might think unachievable – goals, but we are world dreamers, and that's what makes us us.”
