Stefanos Tsitsipas announced a parting of the ways with coach Mark Philippoussis a few months ago. It didn’t take long for the Greek to have a change of heart.
Philippoussis is back with Tsitsipas this week at the ATP 250 event in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Tsitsipas seemed pretty sure of his initial decision when he talked about the pair’s split at Roland-Garros.
“Well, it was a mutual decision,” he explained. “We spent countless of hours on the phone talking a few weeks ago. It’s never easy having two coaches on the court. I know they are there to help and give the best they can, and provide for me. But sometimes it can get quite kind of hectic having two coaches share opinions.
“I’m at a phase of my career in life where I need one coach that can provide all the information, all the analysis, all of the things that I’m looking for to improve my game. Less is more, in my opinion.”
Apparently this time around the working orders will be slightly different. According to reports, Philippoussis plans to split time with Apostolos Tsitsipas, with the team alternating during tour-level events, while they both plan to be in attendance at the Slams.
