Simona Halep won't be returning to action in New York.

Former world No. 1 Halep was automatically withdrawn from the US Open at the time that the US Open Qualifying draw took place due to her provisional suspension.

Halep was withdrawn in accordance with the Grand Slam rulebook.



US Open doubles finalist Taylor Townsend moves into the main draw with Halep's departure.

Former US Open finalist Vera Zvonareva, who is in the qualifying draw, is now first player out.
