Paula Badosa has pulled out of the US Open and called it quits on her 2023 season. The former World No.2 announced the news on Saturday, saying that the pain has forced her to make this difficult decision.
“After struggling for many months to compete again, I am ending my season, she posted on X. “Those of you who know me know how much I like to compete and how difficult it has been to make this decision. We have tried everything together with my team but the pain is not letting me move forward.”
Currently ranked 47, Badosa has not played since Wimbledon.
She had pulled out of Roland-Garros earlier this season with a spinal fracture, which she suffered in Rome in May. .
Originally slated to face Venus Williams in round one; Williams will now face Belgian qualifier Greet Minnen.
