The former world No. 16 starts her new role in September, the Academy announced today.
A two-time Roland Garros doubles champion, Medina Garrigues coached Jelena Ostapenko to the 2017 Roland Garros crown.
During her playing days, Medina Garrigues captured 11 WTA singles titles, with 10 of those coming on clay, reached a Grand Slam round of 16 three times and reached a career-high doubles ranking of No. 3.
Medina Garrigues joins fellow former Spanish pros on the Rafa Nadal Academy staff, including former world No. 1 Carlos Moya and Marc Lopez, who partnered Rafa Nadal to the 2016 Olympic doubles gold medal in Rio.
