Get ready Cincinnati… here comes Rafa.
The 22-time major champion could not attend the National Bank Open in Montreal, but he is rearing to go at Cincinnati. Nadal left a message on Instagram, saying that he is excited to play the Masters 1000 event ahead of the US Open.
"Very happy to play again in Cincy. Flying there tomorrow," Nadal wrote.
Nadal hasn’t won the title since 2013 in Cincinnati, when he defeated John Isner in the final, and if he manages to achieve the feat again this year he could end up with the No.1 ranking. If Nadal wins in Cincinnati, and Daniil Medvedev loses before the quarterfinals, Nadal would return to the top of the ATP rankings for the ninth time and the 210th week.
Nadal is 22-11 lifetime at the event.
