It’s official – 42-year-old Venus Williams will take her place in the US Open women’s singles draw. The women’s singles wild cards for this year’s women’s singles draws have been named by the tournament in a press release.
Topping the list is seven-time Grand Slam singles champion Venus Williams, who will be joined by 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin.
Additionally, Americans CoCo Vandeweghe, Elizabeth Mandlik, Peyton Stearns and Eleana Yu will receive main draw wild cards into the 2022 US Open, as will France’s Harmony Tan and Australian Jaimee Fourlis, as part of reciprocal agreements.
Stearns won the NCAA women’s singles champion, while Yu won the 18 and under USTA Girls championships last week in San Diego.
Main draw play at the US Open begins on Monday August 29.
