Jelena Ostapenko told the Latvian media she will opt out of the US Open due to Coronavirus concerns.

“America is not in my plans, it is is too dangerous at the moment and I do not want to risk my health or that of others," Ostapenko was quoted as telling the Latvian media.

The 2017 French Open champion will forgo the New York hard courts in favor of the red clay of the Prague Open, set for August 10-16th.

Ostapenko joins reigning Roland Garros champion Ashleigh Barty in skipping the US Open. World No. 1 Barty announced last week she will not travel to New York.
