World No.4 Stan Wawrinka has pulled the plug on the Olympic games with a back injury, according to the Swiss Tennis Federation. "I am very sad because I would like to have witnessed my third Olympic Games,” Wawrinka, who competed in Beijing and London, said in a statement. “Unfortunately, this will not be possible now. I wish all Swiss athletes I support, of course, good luck in Rio."

Wawrinka’s withdrawal means that five of the current ATP Top 10 will be missing at the Olympic tennis event, which begins this Saturday.

Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem, Tomas Berdych and Milos Raonic have all withdrawn for various reasons.

World No. Novak Djokvoic, however, is on site in Rio and ready to go:
