Conchita Martinez and Garbiñe Muguruza have officially parted ways. Martinez announced the split on social media on Wednesday, saying: “Garbiñe and I have mutually agreed to end our employment relationship. They have been fantastic years, full of great emotions and wonderful experiences, both on and off the track. It has been a pleasure to work with you, Garbiñe.I wish you the best.”

Muguruza and Martinez formed the gold standard of their partnership in 2017, when Martinez was filling in for Sam Sumyk, who was away for personal reasons, at Wimbledon. Muguruza would defeat Venus Williams in the final for her second major title.

Two years later, in November of 2019, the pair began officially working together. Muguruza reached the Australian Open final in 2020 and won the WTA Finals title in 2021, which took her back to No.3 in the world.

Recently, Muguruza announced that she would be skipping the clay and grass seasons for personal reasons. She has struggled lately, dropping all the way down to No.131 in the WTA rankings. The 29-year-old former World No.1 owns 10 career titles.
