The fifth-ranked Greek said the Big 3 don't exist as the Top 3 anymore because of Roger Federer's absence from the Tour as he continues rehab from knee surgery.
"The Big Three is no longer such because they are not the top three in the rankings," Tsitsipas told the media in Barcelona. "Federer hasn't played in a while and Nadal and Djokovic continue to [be] competitive."
After defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Monte-Carlo final to capture his eighth career crown, Tsitsipas said if he can extend his clay-court success to other surfaces he's aiming to finish 2022 in the Top 2.
"I have a surface that I might be adjusting easier to than other surfaces and we know which one that is," Tsitsipas said in Monte-Carlo on Sunday. "My goal ever since I have realized that and come to the realization of that is if I'm able to score points in this surface as much as I can and really concentrate on the other surfaces a bit more, I can really pull off a great year, maybe even finishing among the two best tennis players at the end of the season."
Four of Tsitsipas' eight career titles have come on red clay with the other four coming on indoor hard court, including his 2019 ATP Finals championship.
"So my mind, in the back of my head, you know, I'm always trying to bring the best I can from clay and adjust accordingly to the other surfaces," Tsitsipas said. "I really want to be doing well on hard and grass this year, because I feel like I can really get a lot of points there."
