Soiled socks are part of clay-court success.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina brought more than the standard salmon-colored streaks on his socks.

If you watched the 46th-ranked Spaniard's inspired run to his first ATP final in Monte-Carlo that propelled him to a career-high ranking of No. 27 this week, then you noticed Davidovich Fokina's unusual habit of wearing two different colored socks.
Typically, the Spaniard wore a black sock on his left foot and white sock on the right foot. While it's fairly common to see players wear different colored sweat bands on their wrists, Novak Djokovic does it often, Davidovich Fokina is one of the few who wears two different-colored socks. He also sports his wrist band unusually high on his forearm rather than on his wrist.
The man who arrived in Monte-Carlo mired in a three-match losing streak, said he's committed to continuing his sock "tradition" though he knows that will require some creativity come Wimbledon.
"It's like superstition, you know," Davidovich Fokina said. "If you see me one day with two black socks or two white socks, it's not me. It's my brother.
"But, for example, for Wimbledon I have a little problem there. We are thinking what to do."
