Injury issues forced Serena Williams into early exits from Indian Wells and Miami, but the 23-time Grand Slam champion insists her desire remains deep.
The 37-year-old Serena told the Today Show she still loves to compete and is driven by one major goal: to win Grand Slam titles.

"I definitely want to keep playing and see what's next," Williams told The Today Show. "Obviously, Grand Slams are what's most important to me. I was really close last year. So close, but literally just back from having a baby.
"And looking back I don't know how I did that. And I had the audacity to be upset when I didn't win and I'm like why am I angry this is like beyond amazing I have a better shot now..."
The four-time Olympic gold-medal champion fell to Angelique Kerber in the Wimbledon final before bowing to Naomi Osaka in straight sets in the US Open final.
Williams, who is aiming to equal Margaret Court's all-time record of 24 Grand Slam singles crowns, says she seldom dwells on past achievement because she doesn't want to grow complacent.
"Little to none," she replied when asked how much time she spends considering her records. "Because when you think about all of the things that you've done and you like sit down and really meditate on it, it becomes overwhelming.
"Like 'Okay why am I?... I don't need to do this anymore. So then you just kind of start playing for the love of it. So I think if you about it you become too satisfied and too content and you lose motivation. And so that's one of the reasons why I never really lose motivation because I'm always thinking about what I want to do next, not about what I've done already."
