Sofia Kenin scored her first Fed Cup win clinching the United States' World Group return.
Kenin conquered Timea Bacsinszky 6-3, 7-6 (4), giving the host Americans an unassailable 3-1 lead over Switzerland in the Fed Cup World Group Playoffs at Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas.
American No. 1 Sloane Stephens opened today's play with a 6-3, 6-2, sweep of Viktoria Golubic setting the stage for Kenin to close.
Stephens accounted for two of the United States' three points during the weekend.
After Golubic upset Charleston champion Madison Keys in Saturday's opening match, Stephens leveled with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Bacsinszky.
Captain Kathy Rinaldi inserted Kenin as today's second reverse singles starter and that decision paid dividends.
The Swiss tandem of Ylena In-Albon and Conny Perrin scored a 7-5, 6-2 decision over Jennifer Brady and Jessica Pegula in the dead doubles rubber.
