An attacking player known as one of the great leapers of his era, Pioline reached the 1997 Wimbledon final three years after he was a US Open finalist.
"I am very happy to welcome Cédric Pioline to my team," Chardy wrote in an Instagram post. "A great guy, with great experience and knowledge of tennis. Looking forward to this new addition."
The 32-year-old Frenchman opened the season reaching the Brisbane semifinals. Chardy advanced to the Miami Open round of 16 last month losing to Borna Coric.
