Ferrer won the battle winning the point, but Kohlschreiber went on to win the fourth set and force a final fifth set.
Earlier today, Rafael Nadal swept Alexander Zverev, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, to level the tie at 2-2 on the red clay of the Plaza de Toros de Valencia.
