A plan for a proposed academy calls for 37 indoor and outdoor courts featuring both clay and hard courts.
A Spanish architect submitted a proposed site plan for a Nadal academy to the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Parks District in February, reports South Florida Business Journal's Brian Bandell.
Nadal’s Boca Raton academy would be at Patch Reef Park at 2000 Yamato Road, according to South Florida Business Journal, which says it's unclear if Nadal would rent or try to buy the site.
The Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy is located on Nadal's home of Manacor.
The Boca Raton Academy would be Nadal's first outside of Spain.
Nadal partnered with Palladium Hotel Group to build the new Rafael Nadal Tennis Centre in Costa Mujeres, Mexico, which is north of Cancun.
The new Nadal Tennis Centre in Mexico will appropriately feature eight red-clay courts, a soccer field, a gym and a bar/cafeteria where fans can watch Rafa's matches on big-screen TVs.
Nadal's Centre in Mexico, which will cater primarily to tourists, is slated to open in November.
