The world No. 19 will wear the company’s patch on his left sleeve, and become the face of the brand through advertising and marketing. Genesis plans on promoting its partnership with Chung in multiple markets, his management agency, IMG, announced today.
"I am delighted to partner with Genesis as we both grow together from Korean beginnings to a wider presence across the world," said Chung. "Genesis and I share the same vision and philosophy, so this partnership is a perfect fit."
Partnering with Chung is Genesis’ first foray into the sport of tennis. The brand is currently the title sponsor of the Genesis Open, a PGA event in California; the Genesis Championships on the KPGA tour in South Korea; as well as the official luxury car of the NFL.
Currently the highest-ranked Asian man in the world, Chung made history earlier this year at the Australian Open by becoming the first Korean player to reach a Grand Slam semifinal. Chung announced himself on the world stage last year when he won the 2017 ATP’s Next Gen Finals title.
