The All England Club announced a prize money increase and event upgrades for Wimbledon to be held later this summer.

ATP: Bjorkman to Play Larger Coaching Role For Murray

Prize money for players will once again go up for 2015 by seven percent to reach a total of 26.75 million pounds or $40.60 million. The increase will make Wimbledon the highest paying tournament in the entire sport.

Both men's and women's singles winners will earn $2.85 million dollars each, another increase from last year.

Since 2011, the total prize money purse has nearly doubled in size from the $22.4 million offered that year.

"I think without the world's best tennis players, we wouldn't have the world's best tennis tournament," Tournament chairman Philip Brook said at a press conference. "We recognize the players are an essential ingredient of our championships and this level of prize money is affordable for these championships and therefore we feel it is important that we should reflect that in what we pay the players."

In addition to the prize money increase, tournament organizers also announced several changes and improvements to this year's tournament.

Hawk-Eye line calling technology will now be available on Courts 12 and 18. That will up the total number of courts with the system to six.

Courts 14 and 15, after being rebuilt last year, will now be in use this year. With that, overall event capacity will increase to 39,000.

A roof for Court 1 is still on schedule to be built by 2019.

This year will also mark a change in overall scheduling for the tournament. For the first time, Wimbledon will now be held three weeks after the French Open to give players an extra week to prepare for the grass-court event.

As a result, a new WTA grass-court in Mallorca, Spain is being planned for 2016.
