Chinese trailblazer Li Na was awarded the prestigious Laureus Academy Exceptional Achievement award on Wednesday in Shanghai, which commemorated the remarkable career of China’s first Grand Slam winner, the highest-ranked player in Asian tennis history and winner of two Grand Slam titles.
Li also earned a nomination for the Laureus World Sportswoman Of The Year award, along with Serena Williams, but both were nudged out by Ethiopian runner Genzebe Dibaba.
