Speaking to reporters for the first time since his wedding to longtime girlfriend Kim Sears a few weeks ago, Murray said that he’s not quite sure what to expect from Mauresmo before and after the birth.
“It’s obviously great news for her, she’s extremely happy,” said Murray, according to the UK Guardian. “But after Wimbledon, providing everything’s good, I’m going to spend the whole of the hard-court stretch through to the end of the US Open with Jonas. Then I’ll see what happens with Amélie because I don’t know, and I don’t think she knows, what her priorities are going to be and how she wants to deal with things. So we’ll just see for a few months.”
Bjorkman is with Murray this week at the BMW Open in Munich where the world No. 3 Murray is seeded first in the 28-player draw.
Murray says he likes Bjorkman’s laid-back manner, and he hopes the former world No. 4 and winner of 414 ATP singles matches will have a positive effect on both himself and his team.
“He’s a very calm guy, he’s not in your face, but when he talks you listen,” Murray told the Guardian. “He’s got a very nice way about him, he’s easy-going. But he was mentally very strong and had a great work ethic as well, so hopefully that can rub off on me and the team as well.”
In other news, Murray told reporters he isn’t sure about what to do about his wedding ring during matches. The Scot said he tried to wear the ring on a necklace but that he snapped the necklace on a physio table the first day he wore it. He added that he can’t wear the ring while playing because it gives him blisters.
