Fognini Makes Pennetta Proud with Barcelona Winner
Rafael Nadal
was pretty miffed about the way he struck his forehand on Thursday in Barcelona against
Fabio Fognini
, and he said so in his post-match presser: “My strength comes from my forehand and if my forehand is vulgar my way of playing is vulgar,” he said.
Barcelona:
Fognini Stuns Nadal in straight sets
But Nadal actually hit his forehand pretty solidly on this point—
albeit in the absolute wrong place
—and that didn’t seem to matter to Fognini. Watch as the Italian plays stellar defense to stay in the point then tracks down Nadal’s smash into the corner—way, way into the corner where his girlfriend
Flavia Pennetta
is watching anxiously—and rips it for a forehand winner and a break of serve in Barcelona.
Not only did Fognini manage the shot of the day in Barcelona, he also made Flavia very proud (Pennetta’s reaction might be the best part of this whole video, no?). Now that’s killing two birds with one stone.
