Even when he's not swinging a racquet, Roger Federer sure knows how to enjoy his weekends.
Grand Slam King Federer and wife Mirka met Monaco's Prince Albert and Princess Charlene at the Prince's Palace of Monaco for lunch to launch this week's Monte Carlo Masters.
The Federer family has quite a bit in common with the royal family.
Both are parents of twins, love winter sports and, of course, are tennis enthusiasts.
The Prince, who attends the tournament each year, is an avid recreational player.
Four-time finalist Federer has never won Monte Carlo — one of only two Masters crowns missing from his trophy extensive collection — but says he's feeling fit and eager ahead of his opener against either Frenchman Jeremy Chardy or Argentine qualifier Diego Schwartzman.
"I'm feeling good about my game and my fitness,” Federer told the media in Monte Carlo. “It's been good to work on that for the last few weeks. I came here early on Thursday to practice on Centre Court, which is something I haven't always had the chance to do. Clearly I feel I've done all the right things to prepare for the clay court season now.
"For fitness and rest, I had to do it more in blocks (compared to last year). That's why I'm happy I got a vacation behind me. For fitness, I will do another block after Monaco when I come back to Switzerland and I might do some more after Madrid. That's the plan and it will work well for Roland Garros and Wimbledon and beyond."
