“I would like to inform you that my new tennis coach will be Thomas Johansson,” Coric told his Facebook followers. “I am excited to start working with an experienced Grand Slam champion. He will join my team at the ATP tournament in Nice.”
On April 17, Coric announced that his was parting ways with his coach Zeljko Krajan, saying that Krajan wanted to spend more time with his family. The two had announced their pairing last November.
Johansson, 40, won nine ATP titles including the 2002 Australian Open. He reached a career-high ranking of No. 7.
After his playing career, Johansson teamed with Jonas Bjorkman and Simon Aspelin to form Peak Tennis Academy in Sweden.
Coric owns an 8-11 record in 2015. He raised eyebrows when he upset Andy Murray in Dubai en route to a semifinal appearance. It was his second 500-level semifinal. He also upset Rafael Nadal in Basel last autumn to make the last four.
