Serena Williams finds herself in a very select group as part of Time's 100 Most Influential People in the world for 2014.
Expecting: Djokovic and Ristic Have a Child on the Way
The World No. 1 was the only tennis player who made it onto the magazine's annual list of who it considers the most influential people in politics, arts, entertainment, sports and business. Only four other athletes were included in the annual list.
Miami Heat basketball star Dwayne Wade wrote a brief profile about Williams to mark the occasion.
In it, Wade said, "There is no doubt that she (Williams) has made an incredible impact on the world of tennis, but it’s her determination to never give up that has always resonated with me."
"She is a world-class athlete and a true champion in every sense of the word," Wade added. "Serena is on a mission — and how amazing that we all get to witness it."
Williams was named to the list earlier in 2010. Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Li Na and Rafael Nadal have also made the list in previous years.
