Former top 10 player Elena Dementieva celebrated a new chapter in her life after giving birth to a baby girl this week.
Russian tennis journalist Vladas Lasitskas broke the news on Twitter with the following message.
Dementieva married Russian hockey star Maxim Afinogenov back in 2011 after retiring from tennis in 2010. Since her retirement, Dementieva is focusing on a journalism career.
Reaching a career high No. 3 ranking, Dementieva won the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal in singles at the Beijing Summer Olympics. She reached two major finals and won a total of 16 WTA titles.
