According to the New York Post, producers of "Venus and Serena" and the USTA resolved their lengthy legal battle. Both parties reached a confidential settlement.
The USTA sued producers Maiken Baird and Michelle Major last year for copyright infringement claiming the filmmakers violated a prior agreement that allowed them to film at the U.S. Open. The USTA also objected to the filmmakers' using footage of Serena Williams' outburst at a lineswoman that resulted in her being defaulted from her 2009 semifinal against Kim Clijsters.
The settlement terms will allow the film to remain unedited.
“The dispute has been resolved to the parties’ mutual satisfaction," a USTA rep said about the settlement.
"Venus and Serena" was released last year and documented both the personal and professional lives of the Williams sisters.
