Rublev Qualifies for NextGen ATP Finals in Milan

Russia’s Andrey Rublev became the second to qualify for the #NextGenATP Finals in Milan on Monday, joining Alexander Zverev as one of two players to have clinched berths in the event, which is to be held on November 7-11 in Milan, Italy.More: Federer Explains His Newfound Success against Nadal“I'm really happy and I'm really excited to play in Milan,” said Rublev, according to ATPWorldTour.com. “I did hard work this year and I've had some great results. So I'm really excited to play Milan.”The 19-year-old Russian has surged in the second half of the season, coming from outside of the Top 100 to his current perch at No.35 in the world.Rublev has gone 18-12 on the season with a quarterfinal at the U.S. Open and his first title this summer at Umag. He was ranked outside the Top 100 when the grass-court season began but has won 17 of 25 matches including his first career Top 10 win over Grigor Dimitrov in the second round of the U.S. Open.

He reached his first career quarterfinal on the grass in Halle and has since reached at least the quarterfinals at four events.Six spots are still yet to be claimed at Milan. Five will be determined by ranking and the final spot by wild card.Here are the current standings:
