Garcia Withdraws From Tianjin
Caroline Garcia won't be continuing her red-hot roll in Tianjin.Garcia, who defeated Simona Halep to claim her second straight title in Beijing, withdrew from this week's Tianjin tournament with a right thigh injury that has bothered her during the Asian swing.More: Garcia Surges to Beijing Title"I mean, it's for sure painful," Garcia said after winning Beijing. "I went through it since couple of days now. But during the tournament, you have to go over the pain, and after you have to think and do some smart choice."The 23-year-old Frenchwoman has won 11 consecutive matches and rocketed up the rankings to a career-high No. 9 after sweeping successive titles in Wuhan and Beijing.
Irena-Camelia Begu has taken Garcia's spot in the draw and will play Maria Sharapova.Unfortunately @CaroGarcia has had to withdraw from the #tianjinopen due to injury.Begu will now play @MariaSharapova in the 1st Round.
