Rafael Nadal has been a busy man of late, and he’ll get even busier soon. The King of Clay is set to begin an exciting new chapter off the tennis court.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion announced on social media that he has accepted an invitation to join the Board of Directors of Real Madrid, the legendary Spanish football club that he has passionately supported throughout his life.
Nadal expressed his gratitude to club president Florentino Pérez and the board for extending the invitation.
“I want to thank President Florentino Pérez and the Board for proposing that I join the Board of Directors of Real Madrid,” Nadal wrote on X, in a statement translated from Spanish.
“I have accepted this proposal with great excitement, a desire to learn, and a willingness to contribute everything I can.”
The appointment is still subject to ratification by Real Madrid's General Assembly of Delegate Members, which is expected to meet on November 21.The announcement marks another significant step in Nadal’s post-tennis career, and brings the Spanish sporting icon even closer to a football club that has long held a special place in his heart.
Nadal, who retired from professional tennis in November 2024, has frequently attended Real Madrid matches over the years and has maintained a close relationship with Pérez.
