There is a time and place for everything.

Today’s Osaka final against an overwhelming Katerina Siniakova was not the time or place for Ashlyn Krueger.

A dominant Siniakova rampaged through 10 consecutive games dismantling Krueger 6-1, 6-0 to capture her sixth career championship at the Japan Open in Osaka.

It is Siniakova’s first singles title since she won the 2023 Nanchang championship and comes 10 years after she was Osaka runner-up to American Christina McHale.

World No. 1 doubles player Siniakova commanded the final from start to finish against the 2023 champoin Krueger.

“Incredible tournament, Kat, you’re an amazing player,” Krueger said afterward. “Everything did go your way today. You’ve been having an amazing season and I wish you all the best in the Finals and hope to see you on court.”

It was Siniakova’s fifth win over Krueger in as many meetings.

Siniakova smacked 16 winners in a 64-minute sweep, improving her 2026 record to 20-18.

The 55th-ranked Krueger, who toppled top-seeded Ann Li in the semifinals, falls to 18-16 on the season.
