Iga Swiatek exhibits 100 percent effort in WTA 1000 events.
Tonight, Swiatek shredded American Ann Li, 6-4, 6-1 charging into her 25th career WTA 1000 semifinal at the Wuhan Open.
Swiatek joins Simona Halep (29) and Serena Williams (26) as the third woman to reach 25 career WTA 1000 semifinals.
The former No. 1 became the fourth woman—and only active player—to reach the final four at all 10 WTA 1000 tournaments, after Caroline Wozniacki, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Halep.
The seventh-seeded Swiatek has not dropped a set setting up an all-Polish semifinal vs. Maja Chwalinska.
In her Wuhan debut, Chwalinska out-dueled Maria Sakkari 6-0, 3-6, 7-5. The 22nd-ranked Chwalinska reached her second career hard-court semifinal.
Both Li and Swiatek were coming off milestone moments in Wuhan, Li knocked off top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka and Janice Tjen in succession for her 100th career win. Swiatek defeated Ashlyn Krueger for her 150th career win at a WTA 1000 event.
Setting the tone on serve, Swiatek won 12 of her first 14 service points seizing a 4-2 lead. Swiatek saved three break points to serve out the opener.
Playing cleaner crosscourt combinations, Swiatek sped out to a 4-1 second-set lead and never looked back improving to 42-15 on the season.
