Brantmeier, Gorzny Earn US Open Singles Wild Cards Through NCAA Playoff

Reese Brantmeier and Sebastian Gorzny won singles main draw wild cards into the US Open on Thursday night by winning the American Collegiate Player Wildcard Playoffs held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.

North Carolina’s Brantmeier defeated Tennessee’s Katrina Scott, 6-4, 7-6(7), while University of Texas’ Gorzny defeated SMU’s Trevor Svajda, 6-2, 6-4.

Scott and Svajda earned wild cards into US Open Qualifying as singles finalists. 

Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin (Ohio State) defeated [3] Michael Andre and Matteo Antonescu (Indiana), 6-2 6-1, to claim the men’s doubles wild card, while DJ Bennett and Ava Esposito (Auburn) defeated [1] Reese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton (North Carolina), 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, to claim the women’s doubles main draw slot in Flushing Meadows.
