Report: Victoria Mboko Hires Wim Fissette on a Trial Basis
Canadian sensation Victoria Mboko, one of two teenagers ranked inside the Top 10, has reportedly started working with Wim Fissette, the former coach of Iga Swiatek, Naomi Osaka and many other top WTA players on a trial basis.
Ninth-ranked Mboko has been working with the Belgian, who parted ways with Iga Swiatek earlier this year, in Strasbourg.
Ben Rothenberg confirmed the news via message with Fissette.
Mboko, who stormed into relevancy on the WTA Tour when she won the Montreal title, has won 19 matches and lost seven in 2026. She reached finals in Adelaide and Doha, then reached back-to-back quarterfinals at Indian Wells and Miami on her debut at both events.
She lost her only match of the clay season at Madrid, and pulled out of Rome due to illness.
Mboko has been coached by former World No. 3 Nathalie Tauziat, and Noëlle van Lottum, Tennis Canada’s Head of Women’s Tennis and a former Top 60 singles and doubles player. It isn’t clear if those two coaches will remain intact, so stay tuned for more information.
Mboko is the top seed in Strasbourg. She will face either Xinyu Wang or Lois Boisson in her second round match after a bye. Mboko reached the third round at Roland-Garros from qualifying, on her Grand Slam debut.
