Monte-Carlo Draw: First-Round Popcorn and Sinner, Alcaraz’s Path to Showdown Revealed

The No.1 ranking is on the line in Monte-Carlo, and now we know Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s path to a potential first matchup of 2026. 

The draw was held Friday at the iconic Monte-Carlo Country Club, with some special first-round matchups revealed, including a clash between 41-year-old Stan Wawrinka and Sebastin Baez.

Per the ATP: Sinner could pass World No. 1 Alcaraz and reclaim top spot in the PIF ATP Rankings in Monte-Carlo, but he has to reach at least the semi-finals to have a chance. The Italian will guarantee his return to No. 1 if he lifts the trophy in the Principality for the first time.
