Sabalenka Tops Race Standings, Where Swiatek Ranks 11

Aryna Sabalenka is back on top of the Race to the WTA Finals standings.

The World No.1, who begins her 84th week at No.1 and her 75th in succession, leapfrogs Elena Rybakina in the standings. To get to No.3 after Sabalenka, with 3800 points, and Rybakina, with 3483, one has to slide down over 1,000 points to No.3 Jessica Pegula.

See the Top 10 in the race here, and notice that six-time major champion Iga Swiatek is actually not on the list. The 24-year-old is one rung further down at No.11, with 1,020 points. The good news for Swiatek? Clay season comes next.

Sabalenka has a lead of just about 3,000 point over Rybakina in the WTA singles rankings, but if we’re looking at just 2026, the race is a lot better indication of what has transpired during the first three months.

Swiatek is dropping in the conventional rankings as well. She was surpassed by Coco Gauff, the pair flip-flopping at No.3 and No.4 in this week’s rankings.

Swiatek drops down to No.4 for the first time since Wimbledon last year. Swiatek has held a Top-10 ranking since May 31, 2021.

Career Highs for Jovic, Baptiste, Gibson

Southern California native Iva Jovic reaches a career-high this week, jumping to No. 16, while Karolina Muchova, who is fifth in the race, rises from No. 14 to No. 11.

Hailey Baptiste and Talia Gibson also contiue to surge.

DC native Baptiste upset Elina Svitolina in the third round in Miami for her second career Top 10 win en route to her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal. The 24-year-old American vaults 12 spots from No. 45 to No. 33.

Aussie Gibson came through qualifying again in Miami, then made it to the fourth round via upsets of Naomi Osaka and Jovic. The 21-year-old entered Indian Wells with two career wins to her name and an 0-9 record against the Top 50. Remarkably, she went 7-2 against the Top 50 at Indian Wells and Miami, and 5-2 against the Top 20. She rises 12 spots fron No. 68 to No. 56.

Additionally, Daria Snigur, Nikola Bartunkova and Hanne Vandewinkel all made their Top 100 debuts on Monday.

Snigur won an ITF title over the weekend, improving to 24-5 across all levels on the year. Bartunkova, who upset Belinda Bencic at the Aussie Open, jumps to No.95 to become the fourth player born in 2006 to reach the Top 100, while Vandewinkel also won an ITF title. The Belgian is making her WTA Tour debut this week in Bogota.
