Svitolina Captures Auckland Title, Her 19th

Elina Svitolina is a big-match type of woman. She proved it again on Sunday at the ASB Classic in Auckland as she improved to 19-4 lifetime in finals with a 6-3, 7-6(6) win over China’s Wang Xinyu.

The 31-year-old Ukranian saved all four break points she faced and came through a tense second set that featured no breaks of serve to clinch her victory in a tiebreak.

13th-ranked Svitolina has won nine of her ten matches in Auckland across two career appearances, and she improved to 2-0 over 57th-ranked Wang.
